Call for institutions 2019 – Scholarship programme

Scholarships are awarded generally only for selected institutions that are affiliated with the programme. These will receive a maximum quota of scholarships (both In-Country and In-Region with an emphasis on In-Region scholarships) for (post)graduates programmes or individual doctorates.

NELGA launches regional Centers

2017 was a very successful year for NELGA: the network is now fully established, with lead institutions active in all 5 regions of the African Union and more than 50 partner universities and research institutions in over 30 countries.
Masterclass on Land Governance and Corruption

Following the launch of the NELGA regional centre in Southern Africa on 19 February 2018, a masterclass themed “Land Governance and Corruption link” was successfully delivered on 20 – 22 February 2018 by the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST).
PhD specialization course on Land Economics and Governance

A PhD specialization course on Land Economics and Governance was conducted at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in South Africa from 8 January to 9 February 2018. The five weeks course was organised by the African Economic Research Centre (AERC) in cooperation with UCT, World Bank and GIZ.
Training needs assessment

In 2017 the Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS) undertook a “Needs assessment for short course training on land governance in Africa”, with the objective to identify, prioritize and urgently address the continent’s capacity gap in land governance.
Doctorate Degree on Land Governance at Bahir Dar University

Bahir Dar University is the first university in Ethiopia that has a doctorate degree on the topic of land policy and governance on offer. For many years, the university has been a Centre of excellence for the education of professionals in land management and land administration.
